Upon arrival in Galle, check in to your hotel and spend the afternoon on leisure.

Later in the afternoon enjoy a Guided Walking Tour of Galle Fort.

A guided walk through Galle Fort offers a fascinating journey through history, culture, and colonial architecture. As you stroll along the cobblestone streets of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, your guide will share stories of the fort’s rich past, from its Portuguese and Dutch influences to its vibrant present. You’ll explore iconic landmarks such as the Dutch Reformed Church, the Clock Tower, and the historic lighthouse, while also discovering hidden alleyways, charming boutiques, and lively cafés. Dinner & Overnight stay in Galle

Galle - Yala

Following breakfast your tour will continue  towards Yala.

In the late afternoon, embark on an afternoon jeep safari at Yala National Park.

Yala National Park has the highest leopard density in the world. Various other mammals can be spotted during your safari here, including sloth bears, jungle cats, mongoose, wild boar, sambar deer, spotted deer, buffalo and Asian elephants. You may also spot crocodiles near rivers and pools, as well as turtle species near the coastal areas. The birdlife here is also impressive with over 130 species being spotted.

Dinner & Overnight stay in Yala

Yala – Nuwara Eliya

Today you can choose to take an optional early morning jeep safari at Yala National Park before returning to the hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast check-out of the hotel and head towards Nuwara Eliya.

Situated over 1800m above sea level, Nuwara Eliya lies at the heart of the tea industry in central Sri Lanka.  It is blessed with a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. It was the prime sanctuary of British civil servants and tea planters in the early 19th century and colonial landmarks from this era such as the Old Post Office and the Grand Hotel have stood the test of time. Referred to as ‘Little England’, the town still retains its British touch and takes visitors on a journey back in time.

En-route experience a city tour around Nuwara Eliya

Drive around the hill capital and see some interesting buildings of mock Tudor and Georgian architecture including the St Andrews hotel, Hill Club, Grand Hotel and the Race course where horse racing continues to be a sought-after social attraction. Continue your drive around the Lake Gregory situated in the heart of the town. Walk through the busy town centre where you can visit the fruit and vegetable market where fresh produce from the region is brought for sale. Continue your tour visiting a Tea Factory and be enlightened on the tea manufacturing process; from the fermentation of the leaf to the rolling, drying, cutting, sieving and grading of tea. There are machines for almost every part of the process except of course the all- important tea tasting at the end to determine the quality of the tea.

Upon completion, you will be transferred to the hotel.

Spend the evening at leisure enjoying the hotel amenities.

Dinner & Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya – Kandy

After breakfast board the train from Nuwara Eliya for a scenic train journey through the misty mountains and tea plantations and arrive at Kandy, where your guide will meet and  transfer you to your hotel in Kandy.

(Please note train tickets can only be purchased at very short notice and unfortunately seats cannot be guaranteed. If tickets are not available, you will be taken from Nuwara Eliya to Ella, a trip of similar length).

In the late afternoon enjoy a visit the Royal Botanical Gardens. The Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya started off as a pleasure garden for Sinhalese Royalty. It was turned into a Botanical Garden by the British in 1843. It was also the location of the supreme headquarters of Lord Mountbatten during World War 2. The 147 acres of gardens include more than 4000 species of plants including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. The orchid collection of over 300 varieties is one of the main highlights.

This will be followed in the evening with a visit to the Temple of the Tooth.

The famous Sri Dalada Maligawa – Kandy’s revered Temple of the Tooth Relic was built within the royal palace complex and houses the only surviving relic of Buddha, which is venerated by Buddhists. The relic played an important role in local politics since ancient times. It is believed that whoever holds the Tooth relic, holds the governance of the country, which naturally caused the ancient kings to protect the Relic with great effort. Monks conduct daily ritual worship in the inner chamber of the Temple of the Tooth three times a day, at dawn, at noon and in the evening.

Dinner & Overnight stay in Kandy

Kandy – Dambulla

Following breakfast this morning you will travel to Dambulla.

En-route visit a spice garden to explore Sri Lanka’s rich heritage of spices. Walk through plantations and discover a variety of aromatic spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and pepper. Learn about their cultivation, medicinal benefits, and use in traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. Enjoy an interactive experience with expert guides, followed by a refreshing herbal drink or a demonstration of spice-based remedies.

This will be followed by a visit to Dambulla Cave Temple which consists of 5 caves which have been converted to shrines. During an invasion from South India in the 1st century BC, the Sinhalese king Walangambahu took refuge in the caves at Dambulla and through meditation gained the strength to drive the invaders away. As a token of gratitude, he declared the caves as a sacred area and built the first cave shrine. Since then, 4 more caves were converted into shrines and are today an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists from around the world.

Dinner & Overnight stay in Dambulla.

Dambulla

After breakfast there will be an opportunity to  climb Sigiriya Lions Rock.

The Rock fortress of Sigiriya rises almost 370 metres above sea level with the ruins of a palace dating back to the 5th century AD found on the summit of the rock. 1200 steps take you to the top of Sigiriya but the climb is broken up by terraces at regular intervals. The climb from the Lions Paw to the top of the rock is along a narrow metal stairway with railings but is worth it because of the spectacular views from the summit. For those unable to do the climb a visit to the Sigiriya Museum is highly recommended.

Upon completion, proceed to Sevanagama village to gain insights about the rural village life – followed by an authentic Sri Lankan lunch with a cooking demonstration.

The Sevanagama village experience offers visitors a unique cultural immersion, where they can engage with locals and experience traditional village life. Highlights include a scenic boat ride on a tranquil lake, a fun tractor ride through the village, and an exciting tuk tuk ride around the surrounding areas. Additionally, a cooking demonstration allows visitors to learn about traditional Sri Lankan culinary techniques as villagers prepare authentic dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The experience offers a true taste of Sri Lankan hospitality, culture, and nature.

Spend the evening at leisure enjoying the hotel amenities.
