Top 5 Things to Do in Singapore
With the wide range of Asian cruise deals now available, Singapore is a regular appearance on ship itineraries. Whether you visit as a port of call while sailing or you spend a few nights in the city before or after your cruise, there are plenty of exciting things to see and do. Perhaps take in some historical sites, or go on an interesting cultural visit. You will find opulent dinners, cocktail bars and high teas aplenty; as well as world-class shopping malls featuring designer brands; and family activities galore.
If you only have a limited time in Singapore, make sure these five things are on your Singapore to-do list.
1.  Supertrees – Gardens by the Bay
Most impressive once the sun goes down, the Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay are vertical gardens which transform into a huge light display come nightfall. Wander around at ground level then head up the tallest of the Supertrees to IndoChine, an Asian Fusion restaurant and bar. The rooftop of the bar gives you panoramic views of the city and an impressive view of the gardens. Enjoying the view with a beer, or over dinner, is much better than waiting in line for the Skywalk; which gives you a similar view, but without a Singapore Fling in hand.
2.  Spectra – Marina Bay Sands Lights and Water Show
By far the most impressive light and fountain show around, Spectra happens every day at 8pm and 9pm, plus 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, so you can easily catch it before or after a few drinks at Gardens by the Bay. Make sure you get there early for a good seat on the steps. Afterwards, browse the shops or grab a bite to eat in the mall.
3.  Sentosa Island
Top of the list of things to do in Singapore if you have kids, Sentosa Islands is the home of Universal Studios Singapore, and has a list of attractions as long as your arm; from a day at the beach to animal encounters or splashing about at the waterpark. On sunny days take a cycle or Segway tour, or on rainy days there is Madame Tussauds and indoor skydiving. There is plenty for the grown-ups too, play a round of golf or enjoy sunset cocktails aboard the Royal Albatross tall ship.
4.  Kampong Glam
Visiting the historical suburb of Kampong Glam is a must. Make sure to go hungry as the range of mouth-watering food on offer will surely tempt you for a lunch stop. After lunch go shopping on Arab street for create-your-own perfume, homewares and local fashion pieces. Drop into the Sultans Mosque and learn about the history of the mosque while admiring the amazing architecture.
5.  River Cruise
Take in the sights of Singapore by boat on a relaxing river cruise. Leaving from Boat Quay, Robertson Quay or Clarke Quay – these boat tours are the best way experience the bustling city without wearing yourself out with all that walking! Afterwards, stop off in one of the historic quays for a cocktail or two.
