Hanoi

Begin your journey through Vietnam in the lively heart of Hanoi with an engaging tour that explores the city’s famous landmarks and rich history. Your day kicks off with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where the father of modern-day Vietnam is entombed. Next, explore the Temple of Literature, constructed in 1070 during the Ly Dynasty as Vietnam’s inaugural university, dedicated to the teachings of Confucius. Designed according to Confucian principles of balance and harmony, the temple’s intricate architecture symbolises the pursuit of knowledge.

Along the way, your guide will offer insights into contemporary Hanoi life, highlighting Vietnamese culinary traditions and popular northern dishes. Indulge in a taste of Vietnam with a light lunch featuring the renowned local Pho or Bun Cha.

Our tour concludes at the picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake, where we’ll visit the stunning Ngoc Son Temple. Hanoi – Ha Long Bay

Today the tour sets out for the coastal town of Ha Long, about four hours from Hanoi. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay is a captivating mosaic of around 1,600 islands and islets adorned with lush vegetation, caves, and secluded beaches. Legend has it that the bay was formed by a celestial dragon, whose thrashing tail created the dramatic landscape.

Board a beautifully crafted wooden junk for an overnight cruise in the legendary seascape of Ha Long Bay. Indulge in a delectable lunch as you navigate between the iconic limestone cliffs, venturing into lesser-explored corners of the bay. Take time to unwind with activities like swimming, kayaking, and cave exploration (activity availability may vary based on the season and weather conditions). As the day draws to a close, soak in the mesmerizing sunset from the deck before joining a cooking demonstration and savouring a delicious dinner. Retire for the night to your comfortable private cabin with an ensuite bathroom, ready to embrace the tranquillity of Ha Long Bay under the starry sky.

Please Note:

Due to limited cabin availability on the cruise, your tour leader will not accompany the group during the Ha Long Bay portion of the tour. However, rest assured that the onboard crew will take excellent care of you, and your tour leader will rejoin you the following day.

Cruise itinerary and schedule are subject to change due to weather, tide levels and operating conditions. Swimming or kayaking excursions may be cancelled due to poor weather.

Meals: Breakfast

Cu Chi Tunnels and Ho Chi Minh City Tour

It’s an early start today as we venture into the countryside to explore the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels. Built by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the country’s long struggle for independence, this hidden network of underground passages allowed the Viet Cong to move undetected and launch surprise attacks. At its peak, the tunnel system sheltered up to 10,000 people. Begin your visit with a short introductory video explaining their construction and significance, then descend into a section of the tunnels that once served as hospitals, schools, kitchens, command centres, and living quarters. You’ll also see the remnants of American tanks and bomb craters that mark the intensity of conflict in the area.

Back in Ho Chi Minh City, set off on a guided tour of the city’s key landmarks. Start at the iconic Reunification Hall—once the Presidential Palace—where the fall of Saigon in 1975 was famously broadcast around the world as tanks broke through its gates. Walk through this historic building and feel the weight of its past. Continue on foot through the colonial quarter, passing daily street scenes and striking French-era architecture. Admire the Opera House, City Hall, and the old Saigon Post Office while learning how the legacy of French Indochina still shapes modern Vietnamese culture. Visit the War Remnants Museum for a powerful and thought-provoking look at the country’s wartime history. Finally, unwind with a stop at a local café to savour a traditional Vietnamese coffee—a perfect way to end your day of discovery.

Meals: Breakfast

Ho Chi Minh City Free Day

Alternatively, enhance your time in Ho Chi Minh City with our optional tours (at your own expense).

Ho Chi Minh – Phnom Penh

Today marks the last day of the Vietnam portion of our tour. Take advantage of the morning for any final sightseeing or souvenir shopping opportunities. Later, we’ll head to Ho Chi Minh City Airport for your flight to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Here, you’ll bid farewell to your Vietnam Tour Leader before boarding your flight to Cambodia for the adventure to continue.

Upon landing, your new Cambodia Tour Leader will be waiting to escort you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and enjoy the hotel amenities or explore the city of Phnom Penh at your leisure.

Meals: Breakfast

Phnom Penh

This morning, we will set out on a discovery of the city and history of Phnom Penh. We start with a visit to the Royal Palace overlooking the Mekong and Tonle Sap Rivers. Built in 1866 by King Norodom, the palace is now home to the reigning monarch. Within the palace grounds you will find the Silver Pagoda, its floor covered by 5,000 silver tiles each weighing 1kg. We then delve into a significant chapter of Cambodia’s history with a visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. Originally a high school, it was repurposed by Pol Pot’s regime in 1975 into a security prison. Now the structure serves as a reminder of the harrowing atrocities committed against both political dissidents and ordinary Cambodians. While a poignant reminder of the nation’s painful past, the museum also symbolises the resilience and hope of the Cambodian people.

Conclude the half day tour on a lighter note at the bustling Central Market, renowned for its Art Deco architecture. Here, immerse yourself in a vibrant atmosphere as you browse through an array of goods, ranging from fresh produce to intricate gold jewellery and silk garments. In the afternoon discover the city independently or alternatively choose your own adventure with an optional tour (at your own expense).

Meals: Breakfast

Phnom Penh - Siem Reap (approx. 314 km)

Today the tour sets out from Phnom Penh heading to the northern city of Siem Reap. The 6-hour drive (314 km) is a chance to delve deeper into the country’s charm, stopping by fascinating destinations along the way. As you leave Phnom Penh, we will take you on a culinary adventure at the renowned Spider Market in Skuon. This market is famous for its wide variety of fried insects and spiders, considered a delicacy in Cambodian cuisine. If you’re feeling brave, try a deep-fried spider – it’s surprisingly tasty!

Then we continue to a local Buddha stone carving village. Witness skilled artisans transforming raw stone into intricate Buddha statues, each a testament to their dedication and craftsmanship. You can even purchase a unique piece of art as a souvenir of your trip.

In the late afternoon you will arrive at Siem Reap, a city teeming with history, culture, and vibrant energy. As an introduction to the city and the culture we have included a delightful dinner accompanied by a mesmerising Apsara dance show.

Meals: Breakfast and dinner

Siem Reap – Angkor Temples Tour

Today marks a significant highlight of your Southeast Asia journey as we embark on a day of exploration amidst the extraordinary Temples of Angkor. The Angkor temple complex is one of the most awe-inspiring archaeological sites in the world—a vast, jungle-cloaked kingdom of stone where history, mythology, and nature intertwine. Spanning over 400 square kilometres, this UNESCO World Heritage site was once the heart of the Khmer Empire. Spend the morning wandering through these ancient grounds before taking a break to enjoy an included lunch in Siem Reap.

Later in the afternoon we’ll return to the temple complex and will visit one of the most loved temples of all – Ta Prohm. This small crumbling temple is held together by giant tree roots giving it a magical feel. End your day with sunset views over the jungle from the top of Pre Rup Temple— a perfect, unforgettable finale to a day spent walking in the footsteps of the past.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch

Trei Nhoar Village Exploration

Today we get a chance to immerse ourselves in the authentic Cambodian village life with a visit to multiple destinations, including farms and local villages. Dress comfortably and embrace the rural ways, for this is where you will witness the remarkable resourcefulness of the villagers. The rural-dwelling Khmer people radiate warmth and authenticity. They have a deep love for their farming, buffalo, and excel in the art of cooking and savouring all that nature provides.

Witness the villagers’ remarkable craftsmanship as they weave intricate baskets and gain insight into their daily lives as they tend to their farms and prepare mouthwatering Khmer desserts. A highlight of the tour is the opportunity to share an unforgettable lunch with the locals. Transfers

Arrival and departure group tour airport transfers are included providing you are arriving on the first and last day of the tour. Transfers are not included for early arrival or extending your stay. Airport transfers may operate at designated times and may be group or independent services using private or public transportation. A short walk to the hotel carrying your own luggage may be required from the drop-off point.

Optional Programs

Specially crafted optional programs provide flexibility for you to explore further. Optional programs are expertly guided and include dedicated coach transportation, admissions and more. Optional programs can be booked directly with the guide and paid in the local currency.

Group Size

You will meet like-minded travellers on tour and may even make lifelong friends. This tour will proceed with a minimum group size of approximately 15 passengers and a maximum group size of approximately 24 passengers. If the tour does not operate, you will be offered a credit.

Itinerary

The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, COVID-19 or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, alternatives will be provided where possible. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment, and operation. Any reference to ‘optional,’ ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.

Breakaway

Customers must always remain with the tour group and not leave unless written approval is given before departure.

Documentation

Final documentation will be emailed within two weeks of departure. For packages consisting of multiple tours or countries, documentation will be emailed individually within two weeks of departure of each respective tour.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is not included and is strongly recommended. Ask our holiday experts for great coverage options.

Force Majeure

Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
