After breakfast, set off on an exciting exploration of Chiang Mai’s historic charm. Choose between a leisurely bicycle tour or a traditional rickshaw tour, each offering a unique perspective on the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
Option 1: Bike Tour of Chiang Mai’s Historic Old City
Your cycling adventure begins with a bicycle fitting and a briefing. Pedal through hidden backstreets to the city’s spiritual heart—the City Navel—home to the 700-year-old white Buddha and the iconic Three Kings Monument.
Next, ride toward Tha Phae Gate, the beautifully restored eastern entrance where traders once brought goods into the city. Continue to Somphet Market, where you’ll browse local produce, sample exotic fruits, and learn about Chiang Mai’s rich culinary heritage.
The journey continues to Wat Chiang Man, the city’s oldest temple, where you can admire the revered Marble and Crystal Buddha images. Finally, arrive at Wat Chedi Luang, a grand temple once home to the Emerald Buddha (now housed in Bangkok’s Wat Phra Kaew). This sacred site also holds the City Pillar and three revered dipterocarp trees, believed to protect Chiang Mai.
After an enriching 3-4 hour cycling experience, return to the starting point.
Please note: This tour will not operate from April 13th to 15th due to the Songkran Festival. Tours resume on April 16th.
Option 2: Chiang Mai City by Rickshaw
Step back in time with a rickshaw ride through Chiang Mai’s bustling streets. Begin at the Three Kings Monument, where you’ll receive a short safety briefing before setting off.
Your first stop is Waroros Market, the city’s largest local market, brimming with fresh produce, snacks, and unique finds. During Thai festivals like Songkran and Loy Krathong, this market buzzes with locals shopping for decorations and merit-making items.
Next, visit Wat Puak Tam, the heart of Chiang Mai’s brass ornament-making tradition. Learn about the community’s centuries-old craftsmanship and create your own brass ornament as a keepsake.
Continue to Wat Srisuphan, the breathtaking Silver Temple, adorned with intricate handcrafted silverwork since 2008. Originally built in 1500 for a silversmith community, the temple’s shimmering interiors feature elaborate Buddhist carvings. While women are not permitted inside due to Buddhist customs, the surrounding area is dotted with silver studios where you can watch artisans at work.
End your rickshaw tour back at the Three Kings Monument, enriched with new insights into Chiang Mai’s culture and heritage.
Lunch & Free Afternoon
Before returning to your hotel, both groups will have a chance to enjoy a bowl of Khao Soi, a fragrant and spicy Northern Thai curry noodle soup, at a local restaurant. The afternoon is then yours to enjoy at your leisure—explore Chiang Mai further, relax at your hotel, or soak in the city’s laid-back charm.
Please note: Both options are included in the package, allowing you to choose between a guided Bike Tour of Chiang Mai’s Historic Old City or a Rickshaw Tour through its cultural heart.
