Our first stop is the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, an interactive museum that vividly recounts the harrowing yet powerful story of the Death Railway. Next, pay your respects at the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, the final resting place of approximately 6,000 Allied prisoners of war (POWs) who perished during the railway’s construction.

We then visit the world-famous Bridge on the River Kwai, an iconic part of the Death Railway built by Allied POWs. After taking in this historic landmark, enjoy a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre and Memorial Walking Trail. Here, walk in the footsteps of history along the rugged railway pass, where the echoes of the past still linger.

Mon Village Visit

Today, we continue our journey along the River Kwai, delving deeper into its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Our day begins with a scenic ride on a traditional long-tailed boat, gliding through lush green mountains and dense jungle.

We arrive at a Mon tribal village, home to one of the earliest indigenous groups of the region. Immerse yourself in their fascinating history and customs as you interact with the Mon people. Engage in meaningful conversations about their traditions, beliefs, and way of life. Try on the traditional Sa-rong Mon costume, learn to play the age-old Saba game, and experience the art of making Thanaka powder—a natural cosmetic used for skincare, sun protection, and insect repellent.

Next, enjoy a short and easy jungle walk along the riverbank, leading to a breathtaking viewpoint of the River Kwai. Along the way, visit the Golden Rock, explore a sacred Buddha image cave, and stop by the local village school.

After an included lunch, we head to another unique accommodation option along the River Kwai- an award winning eco floating hotel. This traditional, eco-friendly accommodation immerses you in nature with charming floating rooms, built on bamboo rafts, a private bathroom, and a terrace with direct river access. Please Note: Due to the resort’s ecology conservation concept, the entire floatel does not use electricity so they utilise lanterns for a soft, ambient glow at night, enhancing the serene, off-the-grid experience.

The afternoon is yours to unwind and relax or alternatively, you can book an optional outdoor activity (at your own expense) like canoeing along the River Kwai or local bamboo rafting (both activities are subject to availability).

Kok Na Sai Village Day Tour – Ayutthaya Historical Park

A row of stone Buddha statues, draped in vibrant yellow robes, set against a bright blue sky with scattered clouds.

Today, we embark on a special visit to Kok Na Sai Village, a community-based tourism initiative led by local residents. This initiative has given rise to the Farmer’s Life Learning Center, where visitors can immerse themselves in the region’s rich agricultural heritage. Here, you’ll gain valuable insights into rice farming, different rice varieties, processing techniques, and the creation of various rice-based products.

This experience offers a unique chance to connect with the local community while supporting sustainable tourism.

After lunch, we return to Ayutthaya to explore its UNESCO-listed Historical Park, a breathtaking testament to Thailand’s golden age. Once the thriving capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, this vast archaeological complex showcases the grandeur of ancient Siam through its majestic temple ruins and intricate Buddha statues. Highlights include Wat Mahathat, renowned for the stone Buddha head entwined in tree roots, and Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the former royal temple. Your cycling adventure begins with a bicycle fitting and a briefing. Pedal through hidden backstreets to the city’s spiritual heart—the City Navel—home to the 700-year-old white Buddha and the iconic Three Kings Monument.

Next, ride toward Tha Phae Gate, the beautifully restored eastern entrance where traders once brought goods into the city. Continue to Somphet Market, where you’ll browse local produce, sample exotic fruits, and learn about Chiang Mai’s rich culinary heritage.

Meals

Included breakfasts offered by the accommodation providers are typically buffet style, with limited vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free options. For other meals included in the itinerary, we aim to cater to a wide range of tastes, providing food that is not too spicy or unusual but still represents the delicious local cuisine. Please notify us at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements and allergies. We endeavour to pass on your dietary requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for. Your patience and understanding are appreciated. You are required to reconfirm dietary requests with your Tour Leader whilst on tour.

Accommodation

Please note most hotels are generally of a quality 4-star local rating. All hotel rooms will feature either a twin room (two single beds) or a double room (1 Queen bed). All bedding requests cannot be guaranteed however all special requests should be made known at time of booking. All rooms are lead-in category or run of house unless otherwise specified. All hotel rooms will be requested as non-smoking. Hotel names mentioned are indicative and subject to change based, with final group tour hotels being confirmed on your final documentation. The standard check-in time is from 2pm and check-out is prior to 11am but this is subject to change

International Flights

The outbound flight may depart one day prior to day 1 shown on the itinerary. The inbound flight may arrive one day after the final day shown on the itinerary. Flights are booked approximately 8 to 10 months prior to departure. The flights included in your package are based on Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways or similar with a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, fuel levies, taxes, or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flights team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination. No show of any flight sectors will result in the automatic cancellation of all onward flights by the airline.

Fuel

In the unlikely event of a significant increase in fuel costs levied by third-party air, land and cruise transportation operators before travel, a fuel supplement may be passed on to the customer.

Group Size

On a tour you will meet like-minded travellers and may even make lifelong friends. This holiday will proceed with a minimum group size of approximately 15 people and a maximum group size of approximately 24 people. If the tour does not operate due to minimum numbers, you will be offered a credit or an alternative date.

Itinerary

The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, COVID-19 or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, alternatives will be provided where possible. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment, and operation. Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.

Breakaway

Customers must remain with the tour group at all times and must not leave the tour unless written approval is provided before departure. Please note if you leave the group from the scheduled itinerary in order to partake in your own sightseeing, this may result in the local supplier cancelling your onward travel services including accommodation and transportation. This does not apply to days on the itinerary where free time is mentioned.

Documentation

Final documentation will be emailed within two weeks of departure. For packages consisting of multiple tours or countries, documentation will be emailed individually within two weeks of departure of each respective tour.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is not included and is strongly recommended. Ask our holiday experts for great coverage options.

Force Majeure

Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
