Supporting Mercy Ships
For today’s blog post, I want to introduce to a cause close to our hearts here at My Cruises. The organisation is Mercy Ships, a global charity who operate hospital ships in developing nations. Mercy Ships bring hope and healing to the forgotten poor by mobilising medical volunteers and resources worldwide. Since launching in 1978, Mercy Ships have changed the lives of more than 2.6 million people who live without access to first-rate medical care, regardless of race, gender or religion.
Over the past couple of weeks in the My Cruises offices, we have launched our own fundraiser supporting this incredible organisation and what they are doing.
We have set up two rowing machines in our offices, and the team have been attempting to row 9,790 kilometres – the equivalent distance of Australia to Dakar where hospital ship Africa Mercy is currently docked providing life-saving medical care. We are rowing and rowing all to raise a donation of over $20,000.
My Cruises have had the support of some of the My Cruises friends; MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean International and Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, jumping onboard as prize sponsors. With their support, we have been selling tickets for, I am just putting it out there, incredible prizes!
Further supporting the worthwhile cause, $10 all My Cruises bookings in August and October 2019 will be donated to Mercy Ships.
As our General Manager; Micheal Middleton said “Mercy Ships is very close to the heart of everyone here at My Cruises. We are delighted to be supporting an organisation whose work helps and improves the lives of so many in need.”
Now we spoke about it during CLIA’s Cruise Month, and I wanted to bring it up again. Exploring the beautiful world around is a magical thing, but it doesn’t have to come at the detriment to others. We, at My Cruises, are incredibly passionate about supporting people and individuals that make the cruise industry and our wider global community, better than they were yesterday.
Until next time…
