Santiago, Chile

Welcome to Santiago! Nestled at the foot of the Andes Mountains, Chile’s capital is a city of towering skyscrapers, exquisite food and rare natural beauty. Wine lovers should head just outside the city to the San Antonio and Maipo Valleys, where several noteworthy wineries are just waiting to be toured. Be privately transferred from the airport to your 2-night luxury hotel stay in Santiago.

Drake Passage

Follow in the footsteps of the world’s most famous explorers while sailing the Drake Passage. Connecting Antarctica to the rest of the world, the Drake Passage is known for its high winds and strong currents, although it can also be eerily silent and still at times. Reflect on your incredible Antarctic expedition as you journey back towards the South American continent.

Antarctic Sound, Antarctica

Schollart Channel & Paradise Bay, Antartica / Gerlache Straight, South America (Scenic cruising) – From jagged mountain peaks adorned in flowing glaciers spilling into the seas and huge open skies, to enormous icebergs, mysterious clouds, and constant surprises from the hugely abundant wildlife you see will keep you in a constant state of awe and you cruise through Antarctica’s Sound/Peninsula

Antarctic Peninsula, Antarctica

Schollart Channel & Paradise Bay, Antartica / Gerlache Straight, South America (Scenic cruising) – From jagged mountain peaks adorned in flowing glaciers spilling into the seas and huge open skies, to enormous icebergs, mysterious clouds, and constant surprises from the hugely abundant wildlife you see will keep you in a constant state of awe and you cruise through Antarctica’s Sound/Peninsula

South of the Polar Circle, Antarctica

South of the Polar Circle Cross the Polar Circle, venturing beyond the 66° 33’ 44.8” latitude that defines the southernmost reaches of Antarctica. This imaginary line marks the start of the true Antarctic wilderness, and few ships venture past it. As your voyage aims to reach Marguerite Bay beyond the Biscoe Islands, you’ll explore a rarely accessed region where Argentina and the United Kingdom maintain permanent stations, and Chile operates a Summer base. The pristine, ice-covered landscape of this remote area offers an unforgettable glimpse into the raw beauty of Antarctica, where few have ever set foot.

South Shetland Island, Antarctica

South Shetland Islands, Antarctica The ice-covered Antarctic Peninsula is one of the most accessible regions of mainland Antarctica, just 480 miles from South America across the legendary Drake Passage. North of the peninsula, the South Shetland Islands offer extraordinary adventure and fall under the protection of the Antarctic Treaty. Home to elephant seals and bustling penguin colonies—Gentoo, Chinstrap, and Adelie—the islands can feel unexpectedly lively. King George Island hosts most of the region’s research stations, while Deception Island hides a stunning volcanic caldera, perfect for hiking and even bathing in geothermally heated waters. This remote wonderland holds endless adventure and rich history.

Puerto Williams, Chile

Puerto Williams, a small Chilean city on Navarino Island, proudly claims the title of the “southernmost city in the world.” With just 2,500 residents, it contrasts with the larger Argentine city of Ushuaia across the Beagle Channel. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Dientes de Navarino mountains, Puerto Williams offers magnificent windswept landscapes and a peaceful village-like atmosphere. Once home to the indigenous Yaghan people, the city was established as a naval base in 1953. Today, it serves as a gateway for scientific and tourist expeditions to Antarctica, offering a quiet refuge at the world’s end.
