Delhi to Agra

This morning after breakfast, join your experienced local guide on an exciting tour of Delhi’s highlights. Visit historic Jama Masjid and drive past the Red Fort. Experience narrow winding lanes best traversed by cycle-rickshaw, housing some of the oldest trading establishments and inhabitants of the Old City. Later, depart Delhi for Agra, home of the magnificent Taj Mahal. Relax for the evening after checking into your hotel.

Hotel: Double Tree by Hilton Agra or similar

Agra - Jaipur

Start the day with a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. Built by artisans from all over the region, this epic mausoleum is embellished with mosaics of semi-precious stones and calligraphy. At dawn the marble structure glows and gently changes colour as the sky brightens.

After returning to the hotel to freshen up and for breakfast, the tour departs for Jaipur. Just 40kms outside Agra, stop to wander deserted plazas and streets in Fatehpur Sikri. Built by the Mughals in the 15th century and abandoned within 20 years due to a lack of water, the ornate buildings and palaces are remarkably well preserved, offering a somewhat eerie insight into the grandeur of the Mughal Empire at its peak. The day concludes on arrival into Jaipur, look out for the effect of the setting sun on the city’s pink walls as you enter before checking into your hotel and relaxing with free time this evening.

Hotel: Jaipur Hilton or similar

Jaipur

Spend today exploring the ‘Pink City’ with your local guides. Start at magnificent Amer Fort, strategically positioned on a hilltop, home to vast halls and the famous entirely mirrored room ‘Sheesh mahal’.

In the afternoon visit sprawling City Palace, a superb example of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Admire ornate courtyards, harems and the extraordinary ‘Jantar Mantar’, an astronomical observatory built in 1827.

Finally, drive though the bustling streets for a photo stop of the Hawa Mahal. This five story façade of windows protected by fine latticed screens, was designed for the harem to observe Jaipur’s lively street scenes in privacy. Enjoy free time this evening.

Hotel: Jaipur Hilton or similar
