Arrive Cairo

Welcome to Cairo, a city combined with rich history and culture and modern buildings. On arrival at the airport a transfer is included to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore the local surroundings, try some local Egyptian cuisine, or simply unwind and prepare for the incredible trip ahead.

 
Cairo Pyramids, Sphinx & Museum

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your tour leader who will accompany you throughout your tour. Begin your adventure at the Giza Plateau, home to the iconic Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, standing as timeless symbols of Egypt’s grandeur. Next, delve into the treasures of the world-renowned Egyptian Museum, where your guide will bring history to life as you stroll through halls filled with priceless antiquities, each telling a story of Egypt’s fascinating past.

Fly to Aswan, Philae Temple – Nubian Dinner

Catch a flight from Cairo to Aswan, where your adventure continues. Upon arrival, take a motorboat ride between the Old Dam and the High Dam to reach the stunning Philae Temple. This breathtaking temple, dedicated to Isis—the Goddess of health, marriage, and wisdom. Admire its beautifully carved pylons, considered some of the finest in Egypt, making it a true gem of Upper Egypt.

Later, join a welcoming Nubian family for a memorable dinner, where you’ll enjoy traditional dishes and gain firsthand insight into their daily life.

Aswan - Join Nile Cruise

Rise early for an optional morning excursion to the spectacular Abu Simbel temple, famous for its impressive four huge, seated statues of Ramses II carved into the rocky hillside and facade. Explore the UNESCO-listed site before returning to Aswan around midday. This optional tour is available at an additional cost. If not visiting Abu Simbel, the morning is free to explore the colourful souks and markets found in the town.  Then, embark on your three-night Nile cruise, arriving in time for lunch on board. In the afternoon, relax as you set sail on a traditional felucca, drifting around Aswan’s scenic islands and take Egypt’s legendary river on this timeless sailing experience. Visit the huge temple complex of Karnak, take in the soaring columns and numerous temples and structures – living up to its reputation as one the world’s largest open-air museum in the world!

Nile Cruise – Kom Ombo Temple

Cruising along the Nile, arrive at Kom Ombo, where you’ll explore its riverside temple. Admire the beautifully preserved friezes and discover the temple’s unique dual design, dedicated to both Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon-headed god. Don’t miss the collection of mummified crocodiles and other remarkable artifacts that offer a glimpse into Egypt’s Greco-Roman period.

Nile Cruise – Edfu Temple - Luxor Temple

Transfer from your Nile cruise to Edfu Temple by traditional horse-drawn carriage, the only way to reach this remarkable site. Edfu Temple, dating back to 237–57 BC, is the best-preserved temple in Egypt. In the afternoon, continue your cruise to Luxor Temple, a magnificent structure dedicated to the gods Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. This temple played a central role in the ancient Opet Festival, one of Egypt’s most significant religious celebrations. As the sun sets, you may want to visit Luxor Temple bathed in golden light.

Disembark Nile Cruise, Luxor - Karnak Temples

Disembark from your Nile cruise and transfer to your hotel in Luxor.

Today fly from Luxor to Cairo and check into your hotel.

Then, head to the iconic Khan El Khalili Bazaar—an essential Egyptian experience. Follow the bustling alleys, filled with rich aromas, vibrant stalls, and centuries-old charm. Wander through Cairo’s winding backstreets, where Islamic architecture and Coptic churches rise amid spice-scented markets and colorful shops.

Fly Cairo to Casablanca (Morocco)

Today, you’ll leave the land of pharaohs behind and fly into Morocco’s world of spice and adventure. On arrival into Casablanca hotel, you’ll have some free time to explore before meet your new Moroccan Tour Leader at 6pm, for a briefing.

Rabat

Start your day with an optional visit to the impressive Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca (extra cost) before heading to Rabat, Morocco’s capital.

Begin your tour with a visit to Oudaya Kasbah, one of the oldest quarters of Rabat and a great example of a fortified city. Then see Hassan Tower, a beautiful minaret constructed in 1195. This afternoon, check into your hotel and enjoy some free time to discover Rabat at your own pace.

Chefchaouen

This morning travel to Chefchaouen for the night, nestled high in the Rif mountains.  Known for its iconic blue doors and white-walled medina, this former Berber post exudes charm at every turn. The main square serves as the heart of the town, featuring the historic kasbah, central mosque, bustling markets, and cozy cafés. Stroll through the maze of narrow, blue-painted streets adorned with archways, staircases, and hidden laneways, and immerse yourself in the magic of the “Blue City.”

Volubilis – Fes

Enjoy a free morning in Chefchaouen to relax or spend more time exploring this picturesque town. In the afternoon, continue a scenic drive through the Rif Mountains toward Fes. Along the way, stop at Ouazzane for a refreshing coffee or mint tea before continuing to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Here, explore the archaeological site and its connection to Moroccan history. Afterwards continue directly to Fes, where you will settle in for a two-night stay.  This evening is an optional dinner with live music, belly dancing and magicians (extra cost)

Fes Sightseeing

Fes is the oldest and largest medieval city in the world and its medina is full of aromas, sights and sounds. This morning, we enjoy a guided tour of Fes el Bali – the old walled city including a visit to the dye-pits and tanneries, then stop for lunch. This fascinating medina is a rabbit warren of 9400 alleys! The rest of the day will be spent at leisure.

Atlas Mountains, Rissani

After breakfast, we’ll depart from Fes, making a delightful stop at the Alpine town of Ifran, often dubbed the Switzerland of Morocco. Our journey takes us through the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, showcasing Cedar Forest, quaint Berber villages, and picturesque towns with apple farms. A break for lunch will be taken along the way, offering the opportunity for some panoramic photos of the expansive date palm plantations and the awe-inspiring Atlas Mountains. After a day of scenic driving, settle into your hotel and meet for dinner this evening.

Merzouga Desert Camp

Indulge in a hearty breakfast this morning, as we head out on an exciting 4WD tour to the Sahara Desert. Begin the day with the Gnawa people where you’ll have the opportunity to appreciate their captivating music and unique lifestyle. Nearby, we visit Dayet Srji Salt Lake, a haven for birds during the spring migration. Venture further into the Sahara to the golden-hued sand dunes. As we approach the camp  there is the opportunity to embrace the local mode of travel with a camel ride. Finish with sunset over the Saharan dunes, marking the end of an unforgettable day. This evening spend a night under under the stars

Todra Gorge

An early start is well worth the views of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes as the sun rises in the morning. After breakfast back at camp, leave for Tinghir and Todra Gorge – the highest and the narrowest gorges in Morocco. Enjoy some free time before exploring the dramatic gorges on foot with your guide. Along the way, visit a traditional carpet cooperative village to learn about local craftsmanship and culture.

Ouarzazate

Today our adventure then leads us to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the Hollywood of North Africa. In ancient times, African traders traversed through this very path on their journeys towards Europe. There is the option to experience the thrill of quad biking in Ouarzazate, where desert trails and rugged landscapes create the perfect playground for adventure. Ride across golden dunes, rocky terrains, and hidden oases (extra cost)

Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakesh

After breakfast we head toward the UNESCO heritage listed village of Ait Benhaddou. This ancient village offers a glimpse into Morocco’s rich past and was used in a Game of Thrones episode. Continuing our adventure, we traverse the majestic High Atlas Mountains with breathtaking vistas along the way. Our day’s finishes in Marrakesh, a city dramatically framed against the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains. Here, you’ll encounter Marrakesh’s iconic landmark, the Koutoubia Tower.  We’ll be spending the next three nights in Marrakesh, to unwind or venture out for your own to explore this enchanting city with our optional tours.

Today we will have our local guide to take us through some of the highlights of the city.  Start with the Bahia palace built at the end of the 19th century by Grand Vizier of Morocco a great example of the Moorish architecture. Continue to the bustling Souks (markets) and make our way to the famed Djamaa Lefna square, the entertainment hub of Marrakesh. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to discover the city further. This evening is the optional choice of a dinner accompanied by a Fantasia performance this evening (extra cost).

Today is a free day! Your tour guide is available with suggestions for optional activities (at your own expense), such as a hot air balloon ride, a cooking class with a local chef, a relaxing session at a Moroccan Hammam spa, or visit the colourful Jardin Majorelle. Alternatively, take this opportunity to shop in the bustling souks or wander through the medina at your own pace.

Marrakesh to Casablanca

This morning is free. Take a late breakfast and relax by the hotel pool, or uncover more of Marrakesh’s wonderful culture and historic architecture. In the afternoon, is a 3-hour drive to Casablanca, where a farewell dinner awaits this evening.

Fitness  

A moderate level of fitness is essential for this tour. You must be able to move independently, including boarding and disembarking all transport, such as the Nile cruise. You’ll also need to carry your own luggage to and from hotels, stations, and terminals. Expect extensive walking on both paved and uneven surfaces, and prolonged periods of standing—often in warm to hot conditions at historical sites. This tour is not suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, or those requiring disabled facilities. Walking aids may be permitted, provided you can maintain group pace. To ensure this tour is right for you, any physical limitations must be disclosed at the time of booking.

 

Pace

In Egypt, most long-distance travel is covered by flights and the Nile Cruise, ensuring a relaxed pace overall. Coach travel is primarily used for day tours, though some early starts are required. In Morocco, all travel is by coach. While some days involve longer drives, they are well-paced with regular sightseeing stops and breaks along the way. During free time, a selection of optional tours will be available to enhance your experience (additional costs apply).

 

Group Size 

This holiday will proceed with a minimum group size considered suitable for an optimal group tour experience.  If the trip does not operate, you will be offered a credit.  Maximum group size is 20 people.

During the peak of summer (June to August) all stays in the Sahara Desert will stay in comfortable hotel instead of a desert camp. Staying in a hotel provides access to amenities such as a swimming pool, restaurant, and shaded areas.  Guests will experience the same desert activities during the day.

Exclusions  

Meals not stated, drinks on meals, optional tours, visas (if required), travel insurance (strongly recommended), tipping, personal expenses and anything not explicitly specified are at your own expense.  

Payment  

A first deposit from $499 per person is required to secure your booking. A second deposit (partial payment) is due 10 months before departure – the amount to be advised at the time of booking. The final balance will be due 5 months before departure. Full payment is due at the time of booking for departures within 5 months.  

Solo Occupancy  

A single supplement from $1900 per person is payable in addition to the twin share price for solo occupancy.  

Triple Share  

Triple share is not available.  

Extra Nights   

Pre tour accommodation in Cairo at the same tour hotel or similar area, can be requested, based on availability.  From $269 per night / per room.  

Post tour accommodation in Casablanca at the same tour hotel or similar area, can be requested, based on availability.  From $380 per night / per room. 

Child  

This tour is best enjoyed by adult travellers and is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Children 12 years and above are subject to the adult price and must be accompanied by an adult.  

Price  

Surcharges may apply for select travel periods and departure cities. Prices are correct at time of publication and are subject to availability, change, cancellation or withdrawal without notice. All prices are in Australian dollars per person twin share unless stated otherwise.  

Change & Cancellation Fees 

Changes for any reason will incur a fee of $110 per person per change in addition to any travel service provider fees. Cancellation for any reason will incur a fee of $550 per person in addition to any travel service provider fees. Travel service provider fees for the tour and air components of the package are dependent on the date of the change or cancellation as follows: 

  • 0-29 days before departure 100% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply 
  • 30-60 days before departure 65% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply 
  • 61-99 days before departure 50% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply 
  • 100-180 days before departure 30% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply 
  • 181+ days before departure 10% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply 

 Airfares are generally non-refundable but any refundable ticket taxes will be returned. Full details of the change and cancellation fees is outlined in the Terms & Conditions available on our website. 

Deviation  

Any request to deviate from the original dates or routing, including early arrival and stay behind, is subject to a flight deviation fee from $150 per person plus applicable airfare and tax difference. Packaged tour extensions are not subject to the deviation fee (applicable airfare and tax difference may still apply) if booked according to the original advertised dates and routing.  

Passport  

For international travel, each customer must provide a copy of the passport photo page at the time of booking. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all names are full names exactly matched to the passport with six months validity beyond trip completion. The customer is liable for all fees due to incorrect names, invalid passport information and expired passports.  

Visa  

A tourist visa is required to visit Egypt and can be obtained upon arrival for Australian passport holders. To pay for the visa on entry, you must either have a non-Egyptian credit card or *25USD in cash. It’s important to carry the required amount, as ATMs may not dispense USD or other foreign currencies. Alternatively, you can opt for an eVisa. https://visa2egypt.gov.eg/ 

A tourist visa is generally not required for Australian passport holders visiting Morocco; however this policy is subject to change without notice.

Health  

It is the responsibility of the customer to check and comply with the health, vaccination, COVID-19 and immigration requirements of each origin and destination country, and health requirements imposed by air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers. Vaccinations, testing and quarantine costs are the expense of the customer. Comprehensive travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage is strongly recommended.  

Baggage  

Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on the coach tour, superseding any other baggage allowance. Excess baggage is not permitted. You are strongly encouraged to pack lightly. A light day bag or backpack is permitted on the coach. Porterage is not included, and you are required to manage your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk, and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.  

Meals  

Please notify us at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements and allergies. We will pass on your requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for. You are encouraged to reconfirm requirements with your tour leader whilst on tour.  Breakfast at hotels is typically continental buffet style cold dishes and basic hot dishes. Included lunch and dinners are typically authentic meals purposefully chosen to complement the local experience.  

Accommodation  

Our hotels names provided are a guide to the standard you can expect. Hotels are subject to change and final hotel details will be confirmed in your documentation 4 weeks prior to departure.  

Tipping  

Tipping is a common part of daily life and service culture. In Egypt, it’s customary to tip your Tour Leader at the end of the tour. The suggested amount is from USD 5 per person, per day. At the beginning of the tour, your Tour Leader will also propose a tipping kitty USD50 per person—a pooled amount to cover tips for service staff throughout the trip, including those at airports, hotels, and on the cruise. This kitty is separate from the Tour Leader tip. 

In Morocco, the suggested tip for your Tour Leader is also USD 5 per person, per day.  This covers the tour leader and driver.  

Flights  

The outbound flight may depart one day prior to day 1 shown on the itinerary. The inbound flight may arrive one day after the final day shown on the itinerary. Flights are booked approximately 8 to 10 months prior to departure. The flights included in your package are based on a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, fuel levies, taxes or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flights team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination. No show of any flight sectors will result in the automatic cancellation of all onward flights by the airline.  

Fuel  

In the unlikely event of a significant increase in fuel costs levied by third-party air, land and cruise transportation operators before travel, a fuel supplement may be passed on to the customer.  

Transfers  

Arrival and departure transfer is included on the first and last day of the tour package. If you decide to stay extra nights in Cairo or Casablanca at the beginning or end of your tour, transfers to the hotel and airport are not included.

Group Size  

This holiday will proceed with a minimum group size considered suitable for an optimal group tour experience.  If the trip does not operate, you will be offered a credit.  Maximum group size is 30 people.  

Itinerary  

The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, COVID-19 or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, alternatives will be provided where possible. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment and operation. Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.  

Breakaway  

Customers must always remain with the tour group and must not leave the tour unless written approval is provided before departure.  

Documentation  

Final documentation will be emailed within two to four weeks of departure. For packages consisting of multiple tour packages, documentation will be emailed individually within two weeks of departure of each respective tour.  

Travel Insurance  

Travel insurance is not included and is strongly recommended. Ask our holiday experts for great coverage options.  

Force Majeure  

Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
