5 Tips For Planning a Cruise
Planning your holiday is always the hardest part; there is no shying away from that one. Deciding on where to go, when to go, who to go with, what cabin to choose, etc. – it can feel a little overwhelming at times. The fabulous thing is that it doesn’t have to be. At My Cruises, we like to make things as easy as humanly possible for you. Here are five tips that you can use the next time you’re about to plan a cruise holiday.
Check whether the cruise cine fits your style
It’s important to understand that there are so many cruise lines out there, each catering to different individuals and their needs. The trick is to research and choose a cruise that suits your ideal holiday style and travel situation. For example, booking a luxury cruise with young children is probably not going to be your best bet, in this instance, you may want to book with a cruise line that has plenty of services and facilities for families.
Thinking about your ideal holiday style and travel situation also is essential when it comes to how long and how you want to cruise. Some cruise lines specialise in Grand Voyages that are longer in duration, while others are short sharp bursts. Some cruise lines are bigger ships that cruise the ocean, and some are smaller, more intimate and cruise rivers.
Choose your cabin based on the season and location
Don’t just blindly book your cabin type without considering the season and location of your cruise. If you do, then you might end up wasting your money on a cabin type you really can’t take advantage of.
During summer months a Balcony cabin will mean that you can enjoy sunrise/sunset and ocean views from the privacy of your room. During the winters an Oceanview room will mean you will still have the view but snuggled up indoors.
Check what other events are on during your cruise
Before settling on specific dates, do some research online and see what other festivals or events take place during the time you intend to travel. If you can line up a cruise to coincide with, for example, Carnival in Venice or the Chelsea Flower Show in London, then that may help you make your decision.
Pay attention to the fine print
They say that the devil is often in the details. Like anything, this certainly holds true when planning and booking your cruise holiday. Make sure you pay close attention to the fine print and get informed before making a decision. Some cruise packages offer a whole range of extras that others don’t. If you feel you may like to partake in these extra inclusions, then consider this when choosing your cruise.
Take out travel insurance as soon as possible
Last but certainly not least, take out a travel insurance policy as soon as you know you’re going to travel. Most travel insurance companies provide cover for a large array of risks that can be associated with travelling, including (but not limited to) medical emergencies, flight delays that can cause you to miss your cruise, or lost luggage. Travel insurance will allow you to travel with peace of mind, knowing that someone will be there to take care of everything should anything go wrong.
