After breakfast this morning, tour Jerash – one of the world’s most well-preserved Roman architecture sites outside Italy. Hidden under sand for centuries, archaeological works over the past 70 years have revealed Jerash as a fine example of Roman urbanism. This afternoon return to Amman, the white city, for a guided tour. Amman rich history has many discoveries including remains from Neolithic, Hellenistic, late Roman and Arab Islamic Ages. At the end of the our tour make your way to the 6000-seater Roman theatre, still in use today.

This morning, drive the scenic King’s Highway to Petra through deep wadis, past olive groves and remote rural villages. Stop at Madaba famed for its 6th century Byzantine Mosaic map of the Holy Land. Then travel up Mount Nebo for breath-taking views of the Holy Land. Travel on through beautiful Wadi al-Mujib and see Kerak Castle, a huge Crusader castle on the ancient Egypt-Syria caravan route. Upon arrival in Petra, check into the hotel and the evening is free for you to relax and explore.

Experience a full day inside the ancient capital of Petra today, with a 2‐3 hour guided tour and then free time to explore. Situated on the edge of Wadi Aruba, canyon walls and surrounding hills make it almost impossible to approach except through a narrow, winding cleft in the rock, called the Siq. It was rediscovered in 1812. The city itself has very few free‐standing buildings, as the Nabateans chose to carve their homes, buildings and tombs into the multi‐coloured sandstone cliffs. Later in the afternoon, leave Petra for the spectacular desert scenery of Wadi Rum and the comfortable Bedouin hosted camp beneath the towering rocks and cliffs. Spend the night relaxing at the camp, watching the stars and enjoying a delicious traditional Jordanian meal.

Start today with a jeep safari through Wadi Rum’s beautiful desert scenery, before heading north towards the Dead Sea, one of the planet’s most spectacular destinations and the lowest point on earth. Stop along the way to experience a ‘swim’, or float in the mineral-rich, intensely salty water. We finish the day back at the hotel in Amman.

Today we leave Jordan with a transfer to the airport and connecting flight to Egypt. On arrival in Cairo, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel

After breakfast at your hotel, join your Egyptologist guide – who will be with you throughout the tour – and head to the Giza Plateau, home of the breathtaking Sphinx and Pyramids of Giza. Then visit the world renowned Egyptian Museum, with your guide and stroll through the halls as each historical period is highlighted with Egyptian Antiquities of this ancient land.

This morning take an early flight from Cairo to Luxor. Visit the huge temple complex of Karnak, take in the soaring columns and numerous temples and structures – justifying Luxor’s reputation as the largest open air museum in the world! Your afternoon is free to relax on board your Nile cruise or to explore Luxor’s markets.
In the evening, take a walking tour of the beautiful Luxor Temple spectacularly lit up at night.

Optional Tour – A spectacular early morning hot air balloon flight over the Nile and the West bank – additional cost
After an early breakfast tour the West bank of the Nile starting at the Colossi of Memnon, then explore the Pharaonic tombs located at the world famous Valley of the Kings. Visit the Temple of Queen Hatchepsut and see the colourful hieroglyphics at Medinat Habu temple. In the afternoon the boat cruises the Nile, through the lock at Esna and on to Edfu to moor overnight.
Overnight: Nile Cruise
After breakfast this morning, visit the Edfu Temple, dedicated to the god Horus. Then enjoy the cruise on your river ship as it continues upriver towards Kom Ombo. Watch traditional rural Egyptian life slide by on the lush banks of the Nile. At Kom Ombo, tour the temple with its beautifully preserved friezes and mummified crocodiles, amongst other artifacts. The cruise then continues on to Aswan.
Overnight: Nile Cruise
Optional Tour: Early start at 3.30am drive to the spectacular Abu Simbel temple, famous for its impressive four huge seated statues carved into the rocky hillside and facade. Return to Aswan around midday – additional cost /book on tour. If not visiting Abu Simbel, the morning is free to explore the colourful souks and markets found in the town.
In the afternoon visit the huge Aswan High Dam, en route to the island temple complex of Philae. The temple remains one of Egypt’s most romantic and picturesque sites having been completely relocated following submersion from the Lower Aswan Dam.
Overnight: Nile River Cruise
Disembark the Nile Cruise boat after a relaxed breakfast, and a board traditional felucca sailboat. Visit Elephantine Island, and enjoy a local lunch then sail on to Kitchener Island and walk through the Botanic Garden.
An upgrade to fly Aswan to Cairo is available – if you would prefer to fly, this will include an extra night in Cairo with airport transfers. Dinner is own arrangements in the evening. Extra cost from $330 per person.
Overnight sleeper train (private twin cabins)
This morning arrive in Cairo and transfer from the train station to join the morning guided walking tour of Cairo to the Khan-el-Khalili bazaar. Walk the winding back streets of Cairo, where Islamic architecture and Coptic churches are surrounded with spice markets and colourful shops. Lunch is included at at traditional Egyptian restaurant before heading back to the hotel for some free time.

Your time is free today until your included transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Exclusions

Payment
A first deposit from $499 per person is required to secure your booking. A second deposit (partial payment) is due 12months before departure – the amount to be advised at the time of booking. The final balance will be due 5 months before departure. Full payment is due at the time of booking for departures within 5 months.
Fitness
A good level of fitness is required for walking up to 2 -3 hours daily, regularly climbing stairs, and walking on uneven or steep terrain. Being able to stand for extended periods of time without needing to sit down. This tour requires you to carry your own luggage. Getting on and off transport without assistance and travelling on some bumpy & dirt roads. This tour is not suitable for travellers requiring wheelchair, mobility scooters or facilities for disabled guests. Other walking aids may be permitted if you are able move about unassisted at the required group pace. For advice on whether this trip is suitable for you, you are required to disclose physical ailments at the time of booking.
Pace
The on-the-go nature of this trip rewards you with maximum sightseeing opportunities will involve some early starts and long travel days. One to two nights at each destination is standard. You will have the flexibility to explore further and book optional tours (at your own expense).

A single supplement from $2200 per person is payable in addition to the twin share price for solo occupancy.

Child
This tour is best enjoyed by adult travellers and is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Children 12 years and above are subject to the adult price and must be accompanied by an adult.
Price
Surcharges may apply for select travel periods and departure cities. Prices are correct at time of publication and are subject to availability, change, cancellation or withdrawal without notice. All prices are in Australian dollars per person twin share unless stated otherwise.
Amendment
Each amendment is subject to a fee from $75 per person. Additional fees and fare differences from third-party suppliers including air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers may apply.
Cancellation
Cancellation fee at anytime is subject to a fee from $550 per person. Additional fees and fare differences from third-party suppliers including air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers may apply.
Deviation
Any request to deviate from the original dates or routing, including early arrival and stay behind, is subject to a flight deviation fee from $150 per person plus applicable airfare and tax difference. Packaged tour extensions are not subject to the deviation fee (applicable airfare and tax difference may still apply) if booked according to the original advertised dates and routing.
Passport
For international travel, each customer must provide a copy of the passport photo page at the time of booking. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all names are full names exactly matched to the passport with six months validity beyond trip completion. The customer is liable for all fees due to incorrect names, invalid passport information and expired passports.
Jordan Tourist Visa and Jordan Pass
To promote tourism, the Jordan government has created the Jordan Pass which includes a free single entry visa into Jordan with a discounted package of entrance fees to all major tourist sites.
You will need to purchase the Jordan Pass prior to leaving Australia which you will use on tour.
The Jordan Pass is available for you to purchase online before you travel.

If you’re not eligible for an e-visa, you’ll need to arrange a visa through an embassy or consulate of Jordan before you arrive. If you don’t, authorities may refuse entry.
Upgrade Aswan to Cairo flight
If you would like to upgrade and fly Aswan to Cairo this is $330 for an additional night in Cairo, your one way flight & transfers. No dinner is included this evening. Must be prebooked and subject to availability. Book early!
Egypt Tourist Visa
A tourist visa is required for travel to Egypt and is available for purchase on arrival for most, but not all nationalities. It is your responsibility to check all requirements with your local consulate, embassy or visa centre. The current visa fee is USD25pp on arrival and must be paid for in USD cash only, no change will be given. This is for AU,NZ, US, EK & EU.
Health & Vaccinations
It is the responsibility of the customer to check and comply with the health, vaccination, COVID-19 and immigration requirements of each origin and destination country, and health requirements imposed by air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers. Vaccinations, testing and quarantine costs are the expense of the customer. Comprehensive travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage is strongly recommended.
Baggage
Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on the coach tour, superseding any other baggage allowance. Excess baggage is not permitted. You are strongly encouraged to pack lightly. A light day bag or backpack is permitted on the coach. Porterage is not included and you are required to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.
Meals
Please notify us at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements and allergies. We will pass on your requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for. You are encouraged to reconfirm requirements with your tour leader whilst on tour.
Accommodation
A range of accommodation styles including hotels, resorts and lodges are carefully selected to suit the prevailing size of the group. The accommodation may not be located in the city or town centre, but are typically chosen to be near public transport options. Accommodation names referenced are to be used as an indicative guide for the standard of accommodation to expect. Actual accommodation names may differ and will be confirmed on your final documentation. All hotel ratings are local or self-ratings provided by the supplier. All rooms are lead-in category or run of house unless otherwise specified. The standard check-in time is after 3pm and check-out is before 10am – actual times may vary.
Tipping in Egypt & Jordan
Make sure you have small local change /notes handy. Tipping is part of the culture for almost everything. From using the toilets, hotels, eating in restaurants & spa services.
In Egypt a tipping kitty of USD 70 per person is collected at the start of the tour for the tour leader to pay a wide range of service staff including hotel porters, train and station staff, site guards, etc.
Tipping for tour leaders as well as drivers is discretionary and strongly recommended as a gesture of appreciation for the service provided. This is not included in the kitty in Egypt. It is customary to tip the tour leader and driver at the end of the tour, a suggested amount from 10USD per person/per day for the tour leader and from 5USD pp / per day for the drivers.
Any local guides for tours, the suggested amount is 2USD pp.
At restaurants when meals are not included, usually leave 10% of the bill or your change.
Flights
The outbound flight may depart one day prior to day 1 shown on the itinerary. The inbound flight may arrive one day after the final day shown on the itinerary. Flights are booked approximately 8 to 10 months prior to departure. The flights included in your package are based on a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, fuel levies, taxes or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flights team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination. No show of any flight sectors will result in the automatic cancellation of all onward flights by the airline.
Fuel
In the unlikely event of a significant increase in fuel costs over 5% levied by third-party air, land and cruise transportation operators before travel, a fuel supplement may be passed on to the customer.
Overnight Train
Train – Overnight sleeper converts from a seat to bed.
Luggage stays with owner in the cabin. These are private twin cabins which seat 2 people, with fold-down beds bunk style (one with a ladder). The train steward will make up the beds in the evening, with sheets, pillow, & blanket.
There is a storage cupboard, sink and fold-away table in each cabin. An airline-tray-style evening meal and breakfast is served on board. Clean bathroom and toilet at the front & back of each carriage. They will get good views of the countryside and towns as they pass through on the way from Aswan to Luxor, before it gets dark.
Group Size
This tour will proceed with a minimum group size of passengers in Egypt. If the trip does not operate, you will be offered a credit

Itinerary
The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, COVID-19 or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, alternatives will be provided where possible. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment and operation. Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.
Breakaway
Customers must remain with the tour group at all times and must not leave the tour unless written approval is provided before departure.
Documentation
Final documentation will be emailed within two weeks of departure. For packages consisting of multiple tours or countries, documentation will be emailed individually within two weeks of departure of each respective tour.

Force Majeure
Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
