Fitzroy Crossing - Broome

Today sees your return to Broome but not before a visit to Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge.

Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek) is Western Australia’s oldest cave system. Wade through the cool waters that fill the tunnel and emerge on the other side to discover a serene oasis.

Carved by the Lennard River, Bandilngan (Windjana Gorge) is over three kilometres long with 300m high walls. At the base of the gorge, deep freshwater pools surrounded by native fig, cajeput and Leichardt trees attract flocks of corellas, fruit bats and freshwater crocodiles.

Arrive in Brome this evening and reflect on the wonders you have experienced with your fellow travellers over a farewell dinner.

Note – Tunnel Creek: is an active walk, 750m return which can take up to 1.5hours. This walk can be difficult to access the cave with climbing over slippery rocks and boulders required. A good level of fitness required as once inside the cave, walking through water with varying depths is required.

Note – Windjana Gorge: is an easy walk, 2kms return which can take 1 hour. This walk is a gravel path with a short steep decline. Some sections can be slippery due to the nearby riverbed.
