A full day of unmissable Cairo attractions await, beginning with the Egyptian Museum, home to 120,000 artifacts, including the priceless treasures of Tutankhamen. After a delicious lunch, head to the Mosque of Muhammad, which sits majestically on the summit of the Citadel of Saladin’s courtyard. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views across the city to the Pyramids of Giza. End your day with a Welcome Reception hosted by your Cruise Manager.
Today, visit the monuments of the ancient capital of Memphis, including the statue of Ramses II, the Alabaster Sphinx and the necropolis of Sakkara. After a lunch at a historic palatial hotel, explore the Great Sphinx and the iconic Giza complex, consisting of three pyramids built between 2,589 BC and 2,504 BC.
Take an early afternoon flight to Luxor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site home to two world-famous temples: Karnack and Luxor. Be welcomed aboard your luxurious ship to begin your Nile River cruise.
Begin your day with a visit to the Valley of the Queens, home to the mummified remains of more than 30 queens and princesses. Next, visit the tombs of ancient Egypt in the Valley of the Kings, one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites. Later, head to Deir el-Bahri to see the Temple of Hatshepsut, Egypt’s first female ruler. Conclude your day with an up-close view of the Colossi of Memnon, two gigantic statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III.
Today explore Edfu, famously home to one of Egypt’s most remarkably preserved temples, dedicated to the falcon-headed god, Horus. Built in 230 BC, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is the second-largest temple in Egypt. Afterwards, relax onboard and take in the landscapes of the Nile River as the ship continues onward.
This morning, enjoy free time in Aswan or opt an optional excursion to Abu Simbel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dedicated to Ramses II. Later, ride a felucca, a traditional Egyptian sailboat, to Elephantine Island, said to be home to legendary Egyptian god, Khnumo. End your day on a high with an optional afternoon tea at the historic Old Cataract Hotel, a 19th-century Victorian Palace.
This morning, board a motorboat and cruise to the UNESCO-designated Philae Temple Complex, which houses some of the best restored and preserved hieroglyphs in Egypt.
Spend the morning cruising along the glistening Nile River. On arrival in Luxor, explore the Temple of Karnak, the largest religious complex in Egypt boasting a vast network of columns, hieroglyphs, obelisks, sphinxes and colossi. Later, visit the iconic Temple of Luxor, which was constructed over hundreds of years by Amenhotep III, Ramses II, Tutankhamun and other pharaohs.
This morning, sail to Qena and immerse in it’s fascinating ancient Egyptian heritage. Visit the Dendera Temple of Hathor, the best preserved temple in all of Egypt. On one of the temple walls is a carving of Cleopatra and her son with Julius Caesar, Caesarion. Later, sail back to Luxor.
Today, disembark the ship in Luxor and fly back to Cairo, where you’ll enjoy a visit to the Abdeen Presidential Palace, consisting of several fascinating museums. Later, visit the old part of the city, including Coptic Cairo, where the Hanging Church and Ben Ezra Synagogue.
